<image:title>Dr. Whitney Dyer, DSW, LCSW-S - Whitney Dyer, DSW, LCSW-S</image:title>
<image:caption>Being a therapist to me means having an insatiable curiosity about the human condition. I come by my specific interest in OCD and anxiety honestly. I completed the Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) intensive Exposure-Response Prevention (ERP) training through the International OCD foundation. I was also trained by Dr. Michael Greenberg in Rumination-Focused ERP (RF-ERP)-which is a cornerstone of my approach. I would say working with mental compulsions is my specialty. OCD can be very stubborn; therefore, a creative approach is important. Although I consider myself to be an ERP specialist first, I employ an eclectic attitude and tailor personalized interventions to best serve you. I am a life-long learner and tend to integrate new findings to refine my craft. I am particularly curious about how anxiety might occur as a result of challenges to metabolize (emotional) experience. I inquire about your past and history of dynamics, as I believe mental health is relational health. Moreover, Somatic Experiencing recently piqued my interest as a way to challenge the cerebral presentation of OCD; therefore, I’m currently in a training program for that. I am also trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I received my Master of Social Work from Texas Christian University and my Doctorate of Social Work from The University of Kentucky. In an attempt to bolster ERP efficacy, my doctoral research focused on examining the impacts of using self-compassion strategies adjunctly with ERP. I founded OCD and Anxiety Recovery in 2022 and I’ve never questioned my line of work since. We’ve built such an amazing team. Individuals experiencing OCD and anxiety are among the most kind-hearted, compassionate, and hardworking people I’ve encountered. I find it a privilege to devote my efforts to supporting this population. My empathy is abundant! Licensed in Texas as a LCSW-Supervisor # 62509 Fees: Intake session (75 mins) - $300; subsequent sessions (50 mins) - $250 Email — LinkedIn — Instagram</image:caption>

<image:caption>Starting therapy can feel like a big step—especially if anxiety or OCD has you second-guessing yourself, overanalyzing decisions, or feeling stuck in patterns you can’t seem to break. If that’s where you are, you’re in the right place. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) who specializes in working with individuals experiencing OCD and anxiety-related concerns, including Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety, Specific Phobias, and Health Anxiety. My work is grounded in evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which are widely recognized as effective approaches for treating anxiety and OCD. In therapy, we’ll look closely at how anxiety operates in your life—how it shows up in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors—and begin identifying the patterns that keep it going. Together, we’ll work on building new ways of responding, whether that means gradually facing fears, reducing avoidance or compulsions, or learning how to coexist with uncomfortable thoughts without letting them dictate your actions. Our work will be collaborative, structured, and tailored to your pace and goals. My professional background is rooted in crisis intervention within emergency room and hospital settings, where I worked closely with individuals in high-stress, time-sensitive situations. This experience has shaped my ability to stay calm, focused, and practical when things feel overwhelming. I also have strong experience leading group therapy, helping individuals learn from one another, build insight, and practice new skills in a supportive environment. In addition, I’ve worked with individuals navigating substance use and recovery, which informs my understanding of behavioral patterns, coping strategies, and lasting change. Alongside my clinical training, I bring lived experience with anxiety and depression. I understand how consuming these struggles can feel and how difficult it can be to break out of their grip. That perspective allows me to meet clients with both empathy and honesty, while staying focused on what actually helps people move forward. My approach is flexible and individualized. While I rely on proven methods, I recognize that each person’s experience is different. I see my role as both a guide and a collaborator—someone who can help you stay oriented, develop effective tools, and continue moving toward the life you want, even when anxiety is present. Outside of my work, I’m a wife and mother of four, and life at home is full with our dogs and cats. I enjoy staying active, spending time with friends, scuba diving, and finding humor in everyday moments. If you’re ready to begin—or even just considering your options—I’d welcome the opportunity to connect and see if we’re a good fit.
