“You’re afraid of surrender because you don’t want to lose control. But you never had control; all you had was anxiety.”

-Elizabeth Gilbert

Does this sound like you?

  • You seek reassurance, get it, and still don’t feel sure

  • You google symptoms, fears, and/or feelings more times than you’d like to admit

  • Your anxiety feels unrelenting, no matter what you do to try to comfort yourself

  • An unwanted thought makes you question who you are

  • You feel like you have to be certain before you can move forward

  • You avoid people, places, and thoughts because of what they might trigger

  • You replay conversations, looking for the moment you said something wrong

  • You feel like you have to prove your morality each day

  • You check, confess, and repeat until it feels right, knowing it is an insatiable fantasy to feel better

  • You’re afraid that having a thought means you want it, or that it means something about you

  • You wash, and wash some more, both physically and mentally, without lasting relief

  • You’re in your head ALL day!

If that resonated, it’s not “all in your head.” Okay, technically it is, but we know exactly how to help.

The Brain Behind the Loop

Somewhere between the alarm and the response, your prefrontal cortex should get a say. In OCD, that connection gets interrupted.

The amygdala fires, stress hormones flood in, and the instinct to do something, a compulsion, avoidance, takes over before reason has a chance to catch up.

This was never a character flaw. It's not your fault. But learning to work with this cycle, gently, and with real support, offers the possibility for change.

You don't have to carry it alone, and our team is equipped with the specialized training to help you find your way through it.

A team that gets it.

The backstory

Hey, I’m Whitney. So glad you’re here.

I founded OCD & Anxiety Recovery in 2022. This work chose me before I ever went looking for it, and that instilled a passion that led me to further my training and education, eventually a doctorate (a shameful plug, I know). My curiosity runs deep, and getting to the bottom of this pain point drives my approach. That's the short version of how this practice came to be. Curiosity remains the engine, and I get to share it with a team I trust completely. We're not just treating folks; in heartfelt ways, we're walking each other home.

Reviews from people who could medal in research.

  • “I highly recommend this practice. I was initially skeptical about therapy because I had tried it in the past and the typical ERP therapy did not "stick". However, OCD was taking over my life, so at the urging of my husband I reached out to OCD & Anxiety Recovery. Joseph truly changed my life and I am so grateful. He recognized that I needed a different approach and incorporated ICBT, which worked much better for me. Thank you Joseph!”

  • "I see Madison and she is a God send in my life. I feel so thankful to have connected with her as my therapist because she has helped me make progress in my OCD recovery that I didn’t think was ever possible. She is kind, funny, and compassionate. She is relatable and doesn’t make me feel looked down upon. She is also professional and skilled at holding me accountable, listening to me with empathy, and helping me create goals to live a life more authentic to my values. She has transformed the way I view therapy."

  • "I can honestly say Dr. Whitney Dyer has saved my life. I started seeing her when I was experiencing extreme fear nearly 24/7, and my world was getting smaller and smaller. I had seen multiple therapists before her, and unfortunately (not intentionally or maliciously on their part), I was getting worse rather than getting better. I needed to see someone who truly understood OCD the way Whitney does. I can not recommend her enough if you are struggling."

  • "Whitney, Madison and Joseph are a great team and can make a real difference for those needing help with the often misunderstood diagnosis of OCD. They offer valuable knowledge and compassionate support."

  • “I moved to Dallas and quickly realized I was in a bad place mentally. OCD was holding me back from meeting new people and performing at work. During my first session with Joseph I thought I was going to be in that bad place forever. 9 sessions later and I am in a better spot mentally than I have been in 2-3 years. Highly recommend.”

  • "If anyone is suffering from OCD, Whitney is the person to see. I’ve been going to Whitney for the past year and I finally have my life back. OCD is a horrible disorder, but having Whitney equip me with the tools I need to live a fulfilling life has been so helpful. She is kind, nonjudgmental, caring, genuine, and has such a passion for the OCD community. I seriously could not be more thankful for her work."

  • “Joseph is kind, patient and responsive. We came to him in hopes of helping our son who was struggling with a phobia and anxiety. He very quickly helped him learn how to handle situations and gave him tools to overcome his issues. We are truly grateful for his guidance!”

  • "When I was at my lowest and couldn’t see a way forward, Whitney was the one who helped me find it. I didn’t know how to get better, but she and her team guided me through every step, in a way that catered to my needs and personality. I can’t recommend them highly enough."

  • "It was a great experience, Joseph was really helpful and he helped me to manage my ocd by tips and tricks. I highly recommend this therapy if your suffering from anxiety/ocd."
